St John's Wort Tincture
For uplifting support through heavy, depressive states ::: St John's Wort is a herb that is increasingly being turned to for support through depression and anxiety. In Germany, doctors have been known to prescribe it three times more than pharmaceutical anti-depressants since they've found it to be more effective, with a lot less side effects.
Ethically wildcrafted on Summer Solstice, these sunny yellow blooms transform clear spirits to an astounding blood red colour, creating a tincture that may support mild to moderate depression, mood regulation, anxiety and sleep support. It is a herb that has been traditionally used to lift moods by helping increase seratonin and dopamine levels, a process that your body can relearn on its own if taken as a consistent herbal protocol for several weeks.
Suggested Uses:
Take 10-40 drops as needed, up to 3 times/day in water. When moving through depressive states, for effective outcomes it is often recommended to take SJW consistently. ie. 2-3 times a day for at least 4 to 6 weeks. Find your dosage: Start with 10 drops per dose, after a couple days if no difference is noticed increase to 20 drops per dose. If no effect is noticed after another couple days, increase to 30 drops per dose etc.. until max 40 drops per dose. All doses can be taken up to 3 times a day.
Contraindications:
St John's Wort interacts strongly with a number of pharmaceutical medications including birth control pills, blood thinners and anti-depressants. It is not recommended to take them together as SJW speeds up how our body breaks these medications down, making them less effective. However if weaning off anti-depressants, SJW tincture can be supportive of this process once you have come off the medication.
Be sure to let your medical professional know if you are taking St John's Wort before any procedures or surgeries.

What is Mutual Aid? Who am I "paying forward" to?
In our attempt to make plant medicines more accessible for all, Seed Medicine Garden sends regular free medicine donations to communities as needs arise. In the past this has included Indigenous activists, youth leaders and trans youth, as well as homeless single mothers, refugees and members of the disabled community.
When you "pay forward" 1 or 2 products, you will still receive one (or selected quantity) of your chosen medicine as well as donating the credit for 1 or 2 products to go towards our herbal mutual aid projects.
There seems to be an increasing call for plant support through these times and we are continually seeking pathways to those who need it most. Please contact us: connect@seedmedicine.garden if you or a community you know is without financial means but needing herbal care.
